Spring 2012 English 160 UIC students (whose videos can be found under February 2012 tabs) were asked to create visual essays on Chicago. They were asked to consider the following themes and to pick one: Immigration, Art, Education, Social Class and Violence. The goal was to create a visual argument on Chicago and one of these themes. Chicago Violence
"Chicago Violence" by Charles Maniago
Basically, my work shows the effects of gang graffiti towards neighborhoods. Although it seems harmless, it really affects thousands of lives in a daily basis. Gang graffiti is a threat to society.
