Generations of Latinos have settled in the same regions in Chicago, them being the Pilsen community and Little Village. Exploring the traditions, heritage and values within these areas is very important to understand the people within these areas and their background. "Chicago and Immigrants" by Jennifer Le
Immigrants
choose to live in the same area as others in the same ethnic group
because that is there comfort zone. Chinese immigrants choose to live in
Chinatown because they have a better chance of getting jobs,
life-experiences, and the ability to communicate with others in their
language. It is not segregation; it's them adjusting themselves to a
happy life.
Charter Schools in Chicago
"Charter Schools in Chicago" by Jasmine Gonzalez
My video consists of
clips and pictures I took at the charter school I attended. It shows how
charter schools play a role in the success of a student in college and how
charter schools help students prepare for college better than other schools
would.
My viewing of parks is simply pure generosity of mother nature to give us, all creatures of this world, this precious treasure. For me gardens are places without which we could not exist, whereas “World
without gardens would be worthless”. What are the parks for you? What are for Windy City?
Graffiti Art in Chicago
Graffiti is a unique art style used to bring creativity and colorful art into dull city streets. In Chicago, graffiti is very common as it can be found almost anywhere; sadly, city officials don't support it because it "scars the community".
"Chicago and Immigration" by Ingrid Hernandez
This video is describing the main purpose as to why Latino immigrants
move to Chicago. Chicago is very broad so the video is focused in Little
Village. Despite the economy Latinos are migrating to Chicago because there are
a lot more opportunities being offered to them here.
"Chicago Parks"
"Chicago Parks" by Dan Clay
I believe the parks in Chicago are valuable resource that we need to protect. That is why i chose them for my project because we need to get people to see them as essential.
"Red Line's Diversity" by Eileen Richards
The city of Chicago is a segregated city and most of the people are afraid of getting out of their neighborhoods. A lot of times we make stereotypes about other neighborhoods and people because we haven't gotten the chance to get to know what is really going on at the other side.
